Automatically create draft transactions from Apple Wallet payments
Last updated: June 1, 2026
When you pay with Apple Pay or a card stored in Apple Wallet, iOS can automatically trigger an action in 1M Finance via the Shortcuts app. You can either review each draft immediately or capture it quietly and review it later in Draft Review.
1M opens a prefilled Quick Add screen so you can save or dismiss immediately.

Captured Wallet payments wait in Draft Review until you open the app.

Open any draft to adjust account, amount, notes, category, or subcategory before saving.

Good to know: Drafts are not saved as real transactions until you confirm them. You can dismiss any draft you don't want to keep.
Use Quick Add Wallet Expense. 1M Finance opens after each Wallet payment so you can confirm the draft immediately.
Use Capture Wallet Expense Draft. Wallet payments are saved quietly for later review in Draft Review.
Already set up? Your current automation keeps using Review now. Switch the Shortcuts action only if you want Save for later.
POS only: This automation triggers when you pay at a physical card terminal or POS. Online purchases, in-app payments, and web payments do not trigger it.
Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone. Tap the Automation tab at the bottom, then tap New Automation (or the + button if you already have automations).

In the trigger list, find and select Wallet — it shows “When I tap a Wallet Card or Pass”.

Select which cards or passes should trigger the automation. We recommend selecting all of them so eligible Wallet payments from those cards can be captured.
Scroll down on the same screen. Under the run behavior options, select Run Immediately and optionally disable Notify When Run to suppress the Shortcuts notification. Tap Next.

On the next screen, tap Create New Shortcut. Do not tap the 1M Finance app suggestion directly — you need the full action editor.
In the action editor, tap the Search Actions bar at the bottom and search for “1M Finance”. Select 1M Finance, then choose the action for your setup mode: Quick Add Wallet Expense for Review now, or Capture Wallet Expense Draft for Save for later.

The action card shows four fields: Amount, Merchant, Name, and Card or Pass. Each one needs to be connected to the corresponding Wallet transaction data. The process is the same for each field:
If you tap the 1M Finance action directly in Shortcuts, iOS may only ask for Amount. That manual prompt is expected because the other fields are optional, but the Wallet automation should still map all four fields for the best draft review later.
Repeat for all four fields: Amount, Merchant, Name, and Card or Pass.

When all four fields are mapped, the action card shows each field connected in blue:

How matching works: 1M Finance uses the merchant and name to automatically match future transactions to the same category and subcategory. The amount's currency and card or pass help match the expense to the correct account.
Tap the checkmark button in the top-right corner to save the automation. It now appears in the Automation tab.
Make a payment at a physical card terminal to test. After the payment, the automation triggers. Review now opens 1M Finance for immediate confirmation; Save for later keeps the draft in Draft Review until you open the app.

Tip: You can edit the automation later by tapping it in the Automation tab. This lets you replace the 1M Finance action, change the run behavior, or review the field mapping.
